The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) will hold its World Congress in Athens from 25-30 May 2004.
This year, in line with the theme of journalism in a time of turbulence and momentous change, the Congress will debate major issues, including globalisation and its impact on work. Such issues as the quality of media, union rights, safety, human rights and the global campaign for protection of journalists will also be addressed.
Diversity and public service values, the continuing struggle for quality and editorial independence in media, and gender issues round out the list. Throughout all the discussions, there will be a focus on how to build solidarity in journalism.
