Sports journalist shot to death
The murder took place as the journalist was leaving the radio station after finishing work. An individual on a motorcycle wearing a blue jacket was waiting for him at the station's entrance. Luiz got into his car, and realizing that someone was waiting for him, tried to flee, but he lost control and crashed into another vehicle that was parked on the street. His attacker approached him and shot him while Luiz used his mobile phone to call for help. The killer fled the scene and minutes later an ambulance arrived, but Luiz had already died.
At the scene of the crime a police official told the press that six shots had been fired at Luiz's vehicle, although the number of bullets that had struck the journalist had not been confirmed.
