The Institute for Press and Society (Instituto Prensa y Sociedad, IPYS) will be co-hosting a training seminar in May aimed at giving Peruvian journalists tools to report more extensively on press-freedom issues.
The seminar is part of a three-year initiative the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) has recently launched in the region to raise awareness of free-expression issues among the media. ICFJ's project, "Covering Freedom of Expression: Resources for Journalists," will include a series of workshops taught by local and international trainers in the capital cities of 22 Latin American countries. Participants will receive hands-on training to identify and develop story ideas and learn reporting techniques for covering free-expression issues.
The project is funded by the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation.

The May seminars are open to local journalists, publishers and trainers and will take place in Lima (14-16 May) and in Mexico City (21-23 May).
