Take a photo as one of the five to demand their release!
Freethe5KH has launched a new "I am the five" photo campaign to support the imprisoned human rights defenders. The aim is to collect 365 photos – one for each day spent in detention. The photos will be published in the weeks leading up to the one-year anniversary. By sending in your photo you can show solidarity with the five in the fight for their release.
On 28 April 2016, five human rights defenders – four staff from the NGO ADHOC, Mr. Ny Sokha, Mr. Yi Soksan, Mr. Nay Vanda and Ms. Lim Mony, and NEC Secretary General (and former ADHOC staff member) Nu Chakrya – were detained in relation to ADHOC's legitimate human rights activities, on politically motivated charges. The Appeal Court denied the detainees bail on 23 February 2017. They're now awaiting a decision on a possible 6 month extension of their pre-trial detention.
To take part:
• Download and print a face mask template from the website here
• Get someone to take a picture of you holding it in front of your face. If you don't have access to a printer, write #FREETHE5KH on a piece of paper and hold that in front of your face instead.
• Then send your photo to Freethe5KH via private message on Facebook
Send your photo to remind the five that the public continues to stand with them one year after their arrest!
