(RSF/IFEX) – RSF is expressing concern further to the transfer of imprisoned
journalist Gao Yu. According to RSF’s information, on 28 December 1998, Gao
Yu, a journalist who has been detained since October 1993 for “leaking state
secrets,” was transferred to an unknown place from Yanqing prison, near
Beijing. Gao Yu is due to be released in October 1999 after serving a
six-year prison term. She is reported to be in poor health. She often loses
consciousness and has serious heart and circulation problems.
