Scores of activists, journalists detained after brief re-opening of Gezi Park

On 8 July 2013, Istanbul governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu officially re-opened Gezi Park, following a 20-day shutdown intended to quell anti-government demonstrations. But merely hours after being granted access, park-goers, activists, and journalists were once again expelled.

Nigerian film board bans documentary on corruption in oil industry

The National Film and Video Censors Board has stated that “Fuelling Poverty” is not permitted to be distributed, aired or exhibited, due to contents that are “…likely to undermine national security.”
