In an attempt at breaking a siege on a Bahraini village, three human rights defenders were arrested for marching peacefully towards the village with symbolic amounts of food and medical supplies in their arms.

Bahraini human rights defender and president of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights Mohammed Al-Maskati was detained overnight and released after interrogation.

The court also refused to refused to release Bahraini human rights defender Nabeel Rajab, opting to further postpone the trial.

While welcoming Tunisia’s acceptance of 110 of its 125 recommendations during a UN review last week, the IFEX-TMG calls on the country to implement them without delay and end the criminalisation of defamation.
