Journalist dismissed for “gross insubordination” in Liberia

Journalist Jallah Grayfield, Station Manager and News Director of the Love Media Incorporated was summarily dismissed. The management stated in the dismissal letter dated December 17th 2013 that he had committed “gross insubordination”, but he says that his criticism of labour practices contributed to his dismissal.

Rodney Sieh, publisher of FrontPage Africa, was released from prison on 8 November 2013 after being in and out of prison for months. Former agriculture minister Dr. Chris Toe has indicated that he has considered dropping the US $1.5 million charge against Sieh.

Conditions behind the release of Rodney Sieh are still unclear. Sieh was imprisoned on libel charges after his paper failed to substantiate its claims that a former government minister diverted millions of dollars intended to fight an epidemic in Liberia.
