IPYS condemns the anti-democratic management of concessions and the radio-electric spectrum in Venezuela.
(IPYS/IFEX) – On 20 July 2010, the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, requested a review of the concession of Vale TV (Valores Educativos Televisión), which was granted in 1998 to Caracas’ Archibishop’s Office. The request was made while Chávez was giving a speech during the graduation ceremony of the II Promotion of the Bolivarian National Police in the capital city.
President Chávez called on the minister of justice and internal affairs, Tareck El Aissami, to “review” Vale TV’s concession and to put the station “at the disposal of the people, of the communities. It should belong to the people, not the cardinal.”
Vale TV is a non-profit cultural TV station.
