(RSF/IFEX) – 8 November 2010 – The United Nations Human Rights Council will examine the situation in Libya on 9 November, during the ninth session of its Universal Periodic Review.

The situation in Libya is not improving. Libya was ranked 160th out of 178 countries in the 2010 Reporters Without Borders press freedom index while Muammar Gaddafi is still on the organization’s list of the 40 “Predators of Press Freedom.”
Reporters Without Borders has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
