According to reporter Carlos Sánchez, his assailants told him repeatedly that the radio station for which he works should "stop broadcasting certain information".
(IPYS-Venezuela/IFEX) – On 1 August 2011, Radio Fe y Alegría Maracaibo journalist Carlos Sánchez was kidnapped by four unidentified individuals who robbed him and left him on a street in Maracaibo, in the state of Zulia, in northwestern Venezuela.
Sánchez was leaving the radio station’s headquarters at around 2:30 pm and was about to get onto a public transport vehicle when one of the individuals approached and pushed him into a car. Once inside the car, the other three individuals took all his possessions and a few minutes later left him by the road.
According to the reporter, his assailants repeated insistently that Fe y Alegría must “stop broadcasting certain information.”
IPYS-Venezuela condemns these aggressive actions against Sánchez.
