The journalist had worked at the newspaper Correo in Huancayo, where he frequently reported on alleged acts of corruption by the regional government.

The blast also affected other nearby houses. This incident took place in the city of Huancayo, Junín Region, in central Peru.
Until a few months ago the journalist worked at the newspaper Correo in Huancayo, where he frequently reported on facts related to alleged acts of corruption by the regional government. He currently collaborates with the weekly Hildebrandt en sus Trece based in Lima.
The journalist recently reported information about illegal charges for driving licenses at the Regional Transport Department of Junín to the Prosecutor’s office.
IPYS condemns the attack against the journalist’s home and demands that the regional authorities should investigate and clarify the facts in the shortest possible time in order to preserve the right to free expression.
