On 6 April 2014, Nairobi Pinto, a chief correspondent for Globovisión, a 24-hour private news station, was kidnapped by two armed people wearing hoods. They forced the journalist into a blue Chevy vehicle outside the building she lives in, in Los Chaguaramos, Caracas. She was taken at about 4:30 p.m. on the Sunday afternoon.
Yozelyn Pinto, the journalist’s sister, said that Nairobi was on the ground floor of her building, about to leave, when the two suspects arrived and forced her out of the building and into their vehicle.
Mayela León, Globovisión CEO, told IPYS-Venezuela that neither the identity of the kidnappers nor their motive was known. For the time being, they are making the necessary inquiries with the authorities.
IPYS-Venezuela will be following the case.
