Journalist Fernando Raymondi was in his father’s grocery store when a group of criminals walked in, apparently intending to rob the store. After Raymondi recognized one of them, the criminal shot him twice in the chest, killing him.
IPYS is following the investigations into the motive for the murder of journalist Fernando Raymondi, gunned down by criminals on the evening of 9 November 2014.
Raymondi, who was in his last year of studies at a university in Lima, had been working for the last eight months in the research unit of Caretas magazine.
The 22-year-old journalist was in his father’s grocery store when a group of criminals walked in, apparently intending to rob the store. After Raymondi recognized one of them, the criminal shot him twice in the chest killing him. The criminals fled without taking anything.
Américo Zambrano, head of Caretas‘ research unit, stated that Raymondi was investigating a network of hired assassins in Cañete. He said this could be the motive for the crime.
The investigations to recognize those involved are being handled by a special team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Lima, who traveled last Monday to Cañete to take up the case.
