(IPYS/IFEX) – On 22 November 2007, journalist María Paulina Martínez and photographer José Puentes, of the tabloid “Ajá y Qué”, were attacked during a protest march of over 100 motorcycle-taxi drivers against a decree by the city of Santa Marta, in northern Colombia.
The journalists were surrounded while they covered the protest and hit by several of the demonstrators. The taxi drivers took Puentes’s camera from him and returned it only after deleting all his photographs of the march.
The demonstrators also threw stones at the offices of RCN radio station, although without causing much damage.
