Freelance journalist Mustafa Sabri has once again been arrested by security services.
(MADA/IFEX) – On the morning of 29 July 2009, the Palestinian military intelligence service arrested freelance journalist Mustafa Sabri from his home in Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank.
His wife said that military intelligence personnel arrived at their home at 1:00 a.m. (local time) and took her husband to an unknown location.
Sabri had just been freed on 25 July from the preventive security prison where he was being held since his earlier arrest on 21 April. The Supreme Court had issued an order for his release on 15 June. Sabri has been arrested and interrogated on many other occasions over the past three years without being charged.
MADA considers Sabri’s arrest to be a gross violation of freedom of expression and contrary to the Supreme Court’s decision. MADA demands that Sabri and all journalists imprisoned by security forces in the West Bank (Iyad Srour, Younis Hsasneh, Qays Abu Samra, and Murad Abu-Baha) and the Gaza Strip (Seri al-Qidwa) be released.
