(IPYS/IFEX) – By way of a directorial resolution, the municipality of San Borja has ordered the definitive closure of the BDHIV S.A. company’s place of business. The opposition daily, “Liberacion”, which is directed by journalist César Hildebrandt, operates in the same building, located at 182 Pacaritambo street, in the Chacarilla del Estanque development.
The municipal resolution, which is signed by Gabriela Niño de Guzmán, director of the Urban Development Department for the municipality, states in its first article: “the complaint lodged by the neighbours of Pacaritambo street is well-founded, therefore we order the definitive closure of the BDHIV S.A. company’s commerical establishment.”. The document makes reference to a complaint lodged by some of the neighbours in the residential area who felt that the neighborhood was being disturbed by the large inflow of people and the permanent congestion generated by the daily functioning of the office building.
In the same article, the resolution warns that if the company does not comply with the order, “the case will be referred to the Department of Compliance Enforcement so that the order is executed at the expense, cost and risk of the offender”.
“Liberacion” pointed out that it is not the only newspaper located in a residential zone, and gave the example of the daily “Expreso”, whose editorial offices are located in the Miraflores disctrict, one the most exclusive residential areas in Lima.
It is also worth noting that the offices of “Liberacion” are located a few blocks from the headquarters of the army’s commander general.
