CONATEL has assigned to the National Assembly one of the frequencies lost by the CNB radio station when it was pulled off the air along with 31 other radio stations.
(IPYS/IFEX) – The frequency that was occupied by the Caracas-based privately-owned CNB 102.3 radio station until 1 August 2009 has been in the possession of Venezuela’s National Assembly since 15 December.
CNB, which belonged to Circuito Nacional Belfort and whose editorial line was in opposition to the government, stopped broadcasting after the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) cancelled its license because of an alleged violation of the telecommunications law.
The announcement of the granting of the frequency to the National Assembly was made by CONATEL on 11 December and the first programme aired commemorated the ten year anniversary of the approval of Venezuela’s current Constitution.
