(IPYS/IFEX) – On 20 December 2006, unidentified individuals set fire to a car belonging to journalist Eduardo Manrique, head of the the crime section of the daily newspaper “Diario de Cuyo”, based in the city of Cuyo in San Juan province in western Argentina.
The vehicle was parked in the garage of Manrique’s home. The arsonists broke through the garage door and doused the car with a flammable agent before setting it aflame. The journalist and his son managed to extinguish the fire.
Manrique believes that this attack was in retaliation for the revelations published in the newspaper’s crime section.
A complaint has been filed with the provincial police, who are investigating the case.
