(IPYS/IFEX) – On 14 May 2009, security guards at the building where the National Assembly’s parliamentary commissions work prevented a Globovisión broadcasting team from entering the building. Globovisión often criticises President Hugo Chávez’s government.
Journalist Beatriz Adrián said that she often enters the building for interviews and to obtain information about legislative debates. However, this time the security guards said they had received an order – although they did not provide documentation of it – to stop broadcasting teams from taping inside the building. Apparently, the only stations authorised to do so are the National Assembly’s own station (ANTV) and the state-run media.
