(IPYS/IFEX) – President Lagos’ decision to limit the number of journalists permitted to cover his visits outside the presidential palace lasted only 48 hours.
On 12 June 2002, government minister Heraldo Muñoz recognised the error and announced the annulment of the government policy. “In the case where a decision is misinterpreted, this means that it is flawed. I have no problem accepting that the policy’s outcome was not what had been intended,” Muñoz explained while announcing the government’s change of heart.
