Adán Benítez was stopped on the street by two unknown assailants who robbed him and shot him to death.
(C-Libre/IFEX) – Journalist and TV producer Adán Benítez was shot to death on the night of Monday, 4 July 2011. The incident occurred in La Ceiba, Atlántida department, in northern Honduras.
According to police who arrived at the scene, the journalist was heading home when he was stopped on the street by two individuals who robbed him and shot him in the head.
The police believe that robbery was the motive for the incident.
Benitez, who had more than 15 years experience as a journalist, had worked for a number of media outlets in La Ceiba, including Channel, Channel 7 (TeleCeiba), Estéreo McIntosh – FM 103.5 and Channel 36.
Including Benítez, four journalists have been killed in Atlántida department and 13 throughout the whole country.
