(IFJ/IFEX) – On the morning of 25 May 2001, journalist Carlos Lajud, of the City TV local news programme, and sergeant Alberto Cantillo, spokesperson for the municipality, were injured by splinters following the detonation of a parcel-bomb in Bogotá, Colombia.
Lajud, together with a cameraman from the local news programme, was at the scene to report on another parcel-bomb which had exploded minutes before at the National University. The journalist was rushed to the Police Clinic.
The first explosion occurred at 8:10 a.m. (local time) and the second one ten minutes later, both of them at the National University’s pedestrian bridge. Thus far, it is not known who was responsible for this terrorist act that left four persons dead and more than twenty injured.
