(IPYS/IFEX) – On 28 April 2010, journalist Cecilia Pérez was murdered by an unidentified person. This took place in the city of Ibarra, to the north of Quito, when the person entered the journalist’s home at dawn. She discovered the intruder and he attacked her with a knife.
The alleged killer was arrested by the police but the motives for the murder are still unknown.
Cecilia Pérez worked at the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS).
