(IPYS/IFEX) – For the last two months, Miguel Angel Rodríguez, moderator of RCTV television station’s programme “La Entrevista”, has been the victim of constant acts of intimidation, among them anonymous death threats against him and his family, which he received through phone calls and e-mail.
Rodríguez pointed out to IPYS that he has been followed by men on motorbikes and accosted by people displaying a gun in a threatening manner. He has also been the target of protests against him in front of the premises of RCTV.
The journalist has adopted security measures in order to protect himself. He is currently evaluating, with the station’s legal representatives, how to bring his case to the state’s legal institutions.
The intimidating acts begun after Rodríguez broadcast information about a case of corruption involving a judge of the Supreme Court.
