(IPYS/IFEX) – In the early morning of 26 March 2006, Canal 10 television channel journalist Eduardo Preve was robbed of several documents related to his ongoing investigation of the murder of chemist Eugenio Berríos, which took place in 1993. People linked to the dictatorial governments which ruled in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay during the 1980s were allegedly involved in the murder.
The documents were taken from Preve’s car, which was parked in front of his house.
The briefcase with some of the investigative documents was under one of the car seats. The thieves did not take documents related to other investigations. A complaint about the theft was filed with Montevideo’s police.
