(IPYS/IFEX) – On 21 January 2009, criminal court judge Margot Pérez ordered the immediate arrest of social agitator Adolfo Cerrudo for having failed to comply with previous court rulings. Cerrudo has been charged with committing several acts of aggression against journalists, including threatening to rape a reporter for the “La Razón” newspaper.
Prosecutor César Romano said that the Special Crime Fighting Force (Fuerza Especial de Lucha Contra el Crimen, FELCC) will carry out Pérez’s order in the near future.
On 14 January, judge Constancio Alcón found Cerrudo to be in contempt of court for failing to respond to a summons to appear for a hearing. Cerrudo was summoned to appear for the hearing after he failed to comply with a house arrest order that had been issued against him.
