Gavilán and several supporters of his political group went into the radio station’s broadcasting cabin and berated the journalist because of his criticisms of the candidate. Then they threatened to kill him. One of the supporters hit the journalist in the face; he had to suspend the broadcast in order to flee the attack. The assault took place in the town of Tambo, Ayacucho department, southeastern Peru.
Cahuas filed a complaint with the town’s authorities and requested the prefect office’s protection.
