(IPYS/IFEX) – On Tuesday 11 April 2000, “La República” daily reported that the premises of a radio station, a television station and two newspapers were attacked by demonstrators during a protest against the government in Huaraz.
The demonstrators, students and construction labourers, exited from the main door of the Ancash Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo National University and proceeded through the streets of the city carrying banners and placards denouncing alleged electoral fraud.
The protesters headed towards the premises of Radio Ancash, “Prensa Regional” and a television station owned by Fredy Moreno Neglia and attacked them, apparently because Moreno Neglia “supports Fujimori” according to “La República”.
The protesters broke the glass in the offices’ windows and doors and further attacked the premises of the “Ya” newspaper. No one was injured in the attack.
