Fausto Lupera, a member of the Andean Parliament, has filed a legal action against Carlos Ochoa of "La Entrevista" programme.

(IPYS/IFEX) – On 21 April 2010, Carlos Ochoa, journalist and presenter of the Gama TV station program “La Entrevista”, was sued by Fausto Lupera, a member of the Andean Parliament. This occurred in the city of Quito.

Lupera has accused Ochoa of “serious non-slanderous allegations”. Contradictorily, however, the parliamentarian maintains that his reputation has been damaged “because of a series of slanderous allegations and lies broadcast by the journalist” during the 14 April transmission of the program.

IPYS and Fundamedios will monitor the case and ensure that freedom of expression is upheld.
