(IPYS/IFEX) – On 19 October 2006, Military Police Captain Luís Carlos Ferreira threatened to kill “Dois Pontos” newspaper journalist Roberto Pazzianotto, in a bar in the town of Capivari, São Paulo state, southeastern Brazil.
According to the journalist, the threat was made in relation to articles of his published a few months prior about the policeman’s participation in a fight. The articles had led to Ferreira being transferred to a different town in July.
Pazzianotto told IPYS that the policeman warned him that he had killed 39 people during his years of service and that the journalist would be the next one.
The journalist filed a complaint at the local police station.
This alert was prepared by IPYS with information provided by the Brazilian Investigative Journalism Association (Associação Brasileira de Jornalismo Investigativo, ABRAJI).
