Perpetrators of these crimes must be brought to justice to put an end to the killing of journalists and the grave attacks they face.

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedom “MADA” condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of Al-Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Aqleh, after she was targeted by the Israeli occupation forces with a bullet in the head – while journalist Ali Al-Samoudi was shot in the back – while covering a raid of the Jenin refugee camp this morning.
The persistence of the Israeli occupation forces in committing more crimes and grave attacks against Palestinian journalists and media, the latest of which was the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh this morning, confirms once again that the main goal behind this is to conceal the daily crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people from international public opinion.
“MADA” Center condemns and denounces all crimes committed by the Israeli occupation authorities and army against journalists, foremost among which are the killing of journalists and targeting them during their work. It would like to point out that with this killing of the journalist (Abu Aqleh), the number of killed journalists by the occupation forces since the beginning of the year 2000 until now has risen to 47 male and female journalists.
“MADA” believes that it is the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators of all these Israeli crimes and violations against journalists and the media in Palestine, that encourages the occupation to commit more of them. “MADA” therefore renews its demand for the need to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes and bring them to justice, to put an end to the crimes of killing journalists and the grave attacks against them.
