PFC publishes its Annual Report of Activities
December 3, 2002
Journalists Against Corruption or PFC (Spanish initials) emerged in August 2000 to strengthen Latin America’s new democracies that have been increasingly debilitated by corruption’s devastating contribution to poverty, economic and social inequality and stagnation, human rights violations, violence, and political instability.
PFC was designed to respond to the reluctance of the Latin America press to cover corruption, to the lack of quality watchdog journalism in that region, and to the unfortunate fact that other anti-corruption initiatives have not had the desired impact. It stimulates and supports enhanced media coverage of corruption in Latin America through investigative assistance, cross border networking and collaborations, and a clearinghouse of tools and resources; and by providing regional free press monitoring and defense with a focus on journalists and media that investigate corruption.
Offering one of a kind services, PFC is the only regional anti-corruption and free press project based in Latin America. Its Profile and Annual Report 2002, published on November 30, summarizes its activities and impact in text and statistics, and demonstrates how PFC is a prototype
appropriate for local and regional implementations anywhere in the world. The Report is available in English in both HTML and PDF formats at:

This announcement is issued by PROBIDAD, a non-profit organization based in El Salvador that administers PFC and two other regional anti-corruption projects, the Monitoring, Resource and Advisory Center (PAL) and the journal Revista Probidad.
