Journalist and Radio Fe y Alegría 103.1 FM producer Francisco León, reported that on 15 April 2014 he received a death threat in a letter that was left at the entrance of the radio station, which is located in Guayana, Bolívar. He said letter is a consequence of him going out to the street to protest.

Carlota Rojas, the station’s director, found the letter first thing in the morning and then showed it to León. The journalist said he did not know who could have left the note, but said that two other journalists in the area had also received threats.
The note read “We are going to kill the guarimbero Fracisco León, stop protesting”. León said that at the beginning of February, when he was working as a reporter, that a National Guard officer had pointed a gun at him.
“The letter is the consequence of me going out to the street to protest. Now I leave the house when there is an emergency, I try not to walk alone and I am staying away from the protests,” he explained.
León said he had not reported anything to the Federal Attorney General, but he had spoken to some NGOs.
