The incident occurred in the district of Leonardo Ortíz, province of Chiclayo, northern Peru.
The journalists were preparing to cover the launch of Luis Castañeda Lossio’s presidential candidature. Under these circumstances, while in their capacity as correspondents for the television station Frecuencia Latina – Canal 2, they were attacked, and dealt harsh blows to various parts of their bodies. The attackers wrecked a film camera, and seized their credentials, various tools needed for filming, and a cellular phone battery.
The accusation has been made before the political delegation of the Leonardo Ortíz district.
