The publisher of "Front Page Africa" newspaper began receiving threatening SMS messages after reporting on the arrest of George Weah, of the opposition CDC party.
(CEMESP/IFEX) – The publisher of the “Front Page Africa” newspaper in Monrovia, Rodney Sieh, has complained of threats on his life.
Sieh said some unknown persons have been sending him SMS messages threatening to kill him and burn down his printing press if he continues to publish what they called falsehoods about the Standard Bearer of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), George Weah. Sieh further narrated that some of those who sent him the SMS messages claimed to be partisans of the CDC.
According to Sieh, the “Front Page Africa” newspaper remains steadfast in the performance of its professional duties rather than seeking any personal interest.
The death threats against Sieh came in the wake of recent reports in the newspaper about the alleged arrest and interrogation of Weah in the United States.
