(MFWA/IFEX) – On the morning of November 6, 2010, Thierno Souleymane Diallo, a reporter with http://www.Tamtamguinée.com , was violently assaulted and detained by members of the red berets deployed by the president after he photographed their brutal assault on a taxi driver in Conakry, the capital.
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA)’s correspondent reported that Souleymane was being held without charge at the notorious Makombo camp, the headquarters of the presidential security outfit, where he was taken after his arrest.
His colleagues and family do not have access to him.
The correspondent said the soldiers unleashed on Souleymane and threw him into a military truck after he took pictures of them attacking a taxi driver in downtown Conakry near a road block at the entrance of the administrative hub.
MFWA condemns this incident and call on the authorities to intervene to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of Souleymane.
