Santosh Gupta was found dead after travelling to Bihar, India to talk to someone about advertising at the Bindas FM station.
(FNJ/IFEX) – 8 July 2012 – The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is deeply concerned and shocked by the news of the murder of Santosh Gupta, Managing Director of the Birgunj-based Bindas FM and a media owner in the Central Region of Nepal.
According to news reports, Gupta had launched the Bindas FM station three month ago. He was found dead with severe injuries on his body in Musouriya village of Bihar, India on 6 July 2012.
The 8 July edition of The Kathmandu Post quoted the station’s management as saying that Gupta went to Bihar after an unidentified person called him. He had gone to the meeting to talk about advertising at the FM station. The same report also adds that the Motihari Police in Bihar, India has arrested four local residents in connection with the incident.
The FNJ expresses its condolences to the late Gupta’s family. Further, it strongly condemns the incident and calls on the government to investigate the murder and punish the guilty parties.
