(CMFR/IFEX) – According to a 7 June 2001 report in the Manila-based newspaper “Philippine Star”, Zamboanga City police have identified and formally charged with murder the alleged killer of radio announcer Candelario Cayona Jr. of dxLL Radyo Ukay. Police said witnesses positively identified Adbulwarid Ada as the gunman. Ada, however, is still at large.
The head of the task force assigned to track down Cayona’s killers, Senior Superintendent Julmunier Jubail, added that Ada is also suspected of killing another broadcaster in the city a couple of years ago. He allegedly shot broadcaster Reynaldo Bancairin, also of dxLL, in his station booth while he was airing his program on 30 March 1998.
