(JED/IFEX) – According to a press release from the newspaper “Umoja” which was received by JED on Wednesday 23 February 2000, journalist Ntumba Lumembu Monji Mule was kidnapped on the morning of Monday 21 February by armed men who claimed to be Congolese national police agents.
That same day, without any warrant, the kidnappers returned to the Umoja press group offices accompanied by the journalist, claiming they wanted to “verify information published in issue 1852”. Since then, there has been no further information concerning journalist Lumembu or any indication of where he is being held.
