(AJI/IFEX) – Tri Agus Siswowihardjo, one of the four missing journalists in
East Timor, was found safe. On 10 September 1999, AJI had contact with him
by his portable phone. He is now in hiding somewhere in East Timor. However,
considering that the situation is very unpredictable, given the fact that on
the one hand martial law is still imposed and on the other the brutality is
not ending, Tri Agus is still not safe. He can be caught at any time by
either pro-Jakarta armed militia or the army.
The others reported missing, namely the three journalists, Peter Rohi, Mindo
Rajagoekgoek and Joachim Rohi, are still missing, as are four activists.
There is no news about them so far.
