**Updates IFEX alert of 9 December 1999**
(JED/IFEX) – Jacques Bololo, a vendor for the satirical newspaper “Pot-Pourri” who was arrested on 8 December 1999, was released the same evening. However, his colleague Gaspard Baila Linoga, who, at the time of his arrest, was in possession of his “Pot-Pourri” press card, remains held in solitary confinement at the State Security Council prison (Conseil de sécurité d’Etat, CSE) in Kinshasa/Ngaliema.
According to JED’s information, Baila Linoga was arrested in place of “Pot-Pourri” managers. He will only be released once the journalists who are responsible for the satirical newspaper present themselves to police.
