(CPJ/IFEX) – CPJ has learned that a sound technician from Chilean national
TV was critically injured today by a sniper near Albania’s border with
Kosovo.

Abner Mashuca, a Chilean national, was hit in the head by a sniper’s bullet
as members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and Serb forces exchanged
fire near the border crossing at Morina, Albania.

Mashuca was evacuated to a hospital in the capital, Tirana, where he is
listed in critical condition.
