(IPYS/IFEX) – A new legal case was opened against Baruch Ivcher by the
Court
specializing in Taxation and Customs Offences, for the crimes of
misappropriation, fraud and acting against the public faith causing
injury
to television station Frecuencia Latina minority shareholders Remigio
Morales Bermúdez and the brothers Samuel and Mendel Winter Zuzunaga.

According to the charges, the businessman fraudulently appropriated
US$2,600,000 from the Frecuencia Latina earnings for the 1996 fiscal
year.
Also implicated in the case are Alberto Cabello, the television
channel’s
ex-general manager; Emilio Rodríguez Larraín, the Ivcher family lawyer;
and
accountants José Gordillo and Marco Tan-Jun. Cabello was served with an
arrest warrant and the others with orders to appear in court.
As is the case with other legal actions continuing against Ivcher, this
case
will be dealt with by provisional judge Nicolás Trujillo Lopez.
According to
sources close to the businessman, this case once again shows that the
government is politically prosecuting Ivcher.
