World Press Freedom Day celebrated for a second year in a row
World Press Freedom Day – 2003 was colorfully celebrated on 3 May 2003, for the second time at EFJA’s office. The event took place in the presence of members of the Ethiopian Free Press Journalists’ Association (EFJA) and the organisation’s supporters.
Messages from the UNESCO Director General and from International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) member organisations, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the International Press Institute (IPI), Freedom House, Reporters sans frontières (RSF), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), ARTICLE 19, the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and PEN International in connection with World Press Freedom Day and analyses of press freedom issues were presented to the participants.
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the EFJA released a statement calling on its members and society at large to ensure that the government will not endorse the new draft press law before it is thoroughly discussed by all concerned parties.
