(RSF/IFEX) – RSF is protesting the deliberate shooting by Israeli police of
a photographer during a Palestinian demonstration in Hebron (West Bank).
According to our information, on 8 October 1998, Hossam Abou Alan, an Agence
France-Presse (AFP) photographer, was seriously injured in the back of the
head by a rubber bullet fired by Israeli troops during clashes with
Palestinians. His condition is considered as serious by doctors in the
nearby hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Journalists who
witnessed the shooting declared that they have been deliberately aimed at by
Israeli troops, despite the fact they have been clearly identified as
journalists by troops who know them.
