(IAPA/IFEX) – For several weeks now, the Minister of Justice and Security
for the Province of Buenos Aires, Leon Arslanián, has withheld information
concerning public security to journalists with “El Día” in La Plata, saying
that the it is “a bad daily newspaper that publishes permanent and
unnecessary attacks against me.”
The minister’s action has resulted in that other state institutions such the
Provincial Police, as well as other public officials, are giving in
piecemeal, restricting and manipulating information provided to “El Día”.
Recommended Action
Send appeals to authorities:
against “El
Día”
expression and of the press, and that it limits the public’s right to
information
jurisdiction, no journalist or media outlet is the target of discriminatory
actions because of what they report
