Mohammed Kilani, editor-in-chief of “Al Badil”, remains in
detention. He was sentenced on 22 February 1995 to two years in
prison for “supporting an unauthorized association,” and holding
“unauthorized meetings” (see IFEX alerts). On 27 April, in a
second trial, he was sentenced to five years in jail and fined
3000 Tunisian dinars (equivalent to 18 000 French francs) for
“possession of a leaflet disruptive of the public order.”
Mohammed Kilani has filed an appeal.

Send appeals to Tunisian authorities:

against him, but that he has rather been detained only for his
position in the leadership of the Tunisian Workers’ Communist
Party (POCT)
