Journalist Alfonso Castiglione Mendoza remains in detention,
awaiting a retrial ordered over two months ago. On 7 June 1995,
the Supreme Court of Peru revoked the sentence of a faceless
tribunal which had condemned journalist Jesus Alfonso Castiglione
Mendoza to 20 years in prison. The Supreme Court decision ordered
a retrial in the case, but Castiglione remained in detention.
