(RSF/IFEX) – On 30 July 2002, RSF and the Burma Media Association welcomed the transfer of detained journalist U Win Tin to Rangoon General Hospital. According to the Democratic Voice of Burma radio station, U Win Tin was transferred to the hospital’s prisoners’ ward on 27 July. He has been imprisoned for the past 13 years.
On 24 July, RSF and the Burma Media Association expressed their grave concern about U Win Tin’s sharply deteriorating health. The organisations called for his immediate release and demanded that he be taken to hospital, where, they said, they would pay for his treatment.
